We're looking for a freelancer to fix a website problem. Our site used to run on templates that kept every page consistent. When it got exported to static HTML and moved to its current host, we lost that template system. We want someone to rebuild the site with a proper template system underneath it, so the design stays consistent by default, and so our own team can update content without needing a developer for every change.
The problem
Our site has about 10 pages: a homepage, a handful of location pages, a few service pages, and a contact page. It used to run on a CMS with templates, where the templates kept every page looking and behaving the same.
The site was exported to static HTML and pushed to a git-based host. That export process flattened everything into separate, standalone HTML files. There's no shared template underneath them anymore. Each page is now its own island, and the page layouts and UI have started to drift apart because there's nothing tying them together.
To be clear: our branding (colours, fonts, logo) is fine as it is. The problem is the page design and UI itself. Layouts, navigation, and components are inconsistent from page to page and, honestly, look dated and rough. We want the rebuild to fix that, on top of the missing template layer.
What's in scope
• Rebuild the site using a static site generator (we're picturing Eleventy, but we're open to your recommendation if you've got a good reason)
• Identify the repeating page types across our 10 pages (homepage, location page, service page, contact page, etc.) and build one template per type
• Redesign the page layouts and UI components (navigation, headers, cards, forms, footer, etc.) so they're clean and consistent across every page type. Keep our current colours, fonts, and logo. Fix the layout and component design, not the brand itself.
• Move page content out of hard-coded HTML and into simple content files (Markdown or a similar plain format) that templates pull from
• Write a one-page reference doc capturing our current brand basics (colours, fonts, logo use) so it's documented, plus the new layout and component patterns
• Set up the project so it deploys to our current host the same way it does now
• Document how someone on our team edits content and pushes a change, using an AI coding assistant and a pull request
What's out of scope
• Moving our existing page content into the new system. Our team does that ourselves once the system's built.
• A CMS, admin panel, or login-based editing tool of any kind. We're editing through an AI coding assistant and pull requests.
• Any of our other websites or brands. This project is one site only.
• New copywriting or photography. We're only talking about structure, layout, and system, not new content.
• Changing our colours, fonts, or logo. Those stay as they are.

• Workflow: someone on our team opens a content file, makes the edit (using an AI coding assistant where helpful), commits the change, and opens a pull request. We're comfortable with that. We just want it to be a content edit, not a code edit.
How we'll work together
We'll give you access to the current repo and point you to the live site. We're happy to hop on a call at the start to walk through the current pages and answer questions.
We'd like a short check-in partway through, once the templates are taking shape, before you build out all of them. That way we can catch anything off-brand early rather than at the end.
One of us currently manages the repo day to day and will be your main point of contact for anything technical.

Critical safeguards

Automatically confirm a COD order without the required customer confirmation.
Mark an order paid without verified payment status.
Mark an order dispatched without actual shipment confirmation.
Send duplicate WhatsApp messages repeatedly.
expose API keys/secrets publicly.
send customer data unnecessarily to unrelated services.
generate answers that are not supported by our actual website/order data.
Use secure API authentication, HTTPS, webhook verification and proper error logging.
Testing before live launch
Please first create a test environment/workflow and demonstrate:

I am looking for a proper API-based system that can scale with Pan-India ecommerce orders, not a basic WhatsApp auto-reply bot.
